5 Most Underrated Disney Movies

Most Underrated Disney Movies

Disney has released some major movies. Here are some gems that people don’t talk about enough!

It doesn’t matter if you are 5 or 90 years old. If you get excited by the “Walt Disney Pictures” logo before a movie starts then you are a true Disney fan. Disney has created some of the best animation movies of all time and has built a whole empire around it.

Disney has built quite a reputation with the fact that anything Disney creates, becomes successful but there are some major underrated Disney movies that only real Disney stans will know. Here are some of them:

Treasure Planet

Most of Disney’s fans will agree that Treasure Planet is one of the most underrated movies despite it being one of Disney’s biggest financial losses. The visuals and soundtracks of the movie are still talked about at large. Perhaps all the criticism stems from the fact that Disney strayed away from the original Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. The movie differs quite a lot from the actual book leading to it not being well appreciated by many critics. But it is this very fact is that makes Treasure Planet so good.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Another Disney movie that didn’t do well at the box office was Atlantis: The Lost Empire. A huge fandom believes that this is the most underrated Disney movie of all time. The animation style in the movie was pretty unique, giving the appearance of a comic book or graphic novel with creative vehicles based on various sea creatures. Maybe it didn’t do well in the box office because the movie appealed to an older audience and the animation was different compared to other Disney animated movies.

Meet the Robinsons

Meet the Robinsons did well in the box office with mixed reviews but this great movie is forgotten completely. Considered one of the funniest Disney movies, the movie is heartfelt, and unique in its animation style. The movie has a very touching story with Lewis’s lack of belonging and how despite various disappointments in life he just stuck to the “Keep moving forward” mantra. The futuristic backgrounds and time travel paradoxes might be a little confusing for young audiences.

Lady and the Tramp

If you know this movie from the 2019 dog-meets-dog romance movie you are not a true Disney fan. The original movie was released in 1955 and although the movie was released a long time back, there is still a legion of fans who love the original movie and feel that the movie is highly underrated. We all love our furry friends and seeing them in an animated movie is just beyond words. Seeing how underrated this movie is just devastating. A word of advice, always go for the original Disney movies and not the remakes.

Big Hero 6

Big Hero 6 is criminally underrated and its characters are too. How did people ever let the movie slip out of the mainstream consciousness and how could they just forget about Baymax or Tadashi Hamada (still crying)? Despite being so successful upon its release and winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, Big Hero 6 is still massively underrated.

Movies appeal to the audience in different ways and in the case of Disney, most of their movies are targeted towards the younger audiences, and as such those movies that appeal to the older audience seem to go underrated. But this won’t stop a true Disney fan from stunning Disney. After all, we went through Mufasa’s death together and we can go through anything together.
